Perhaps my prediction was a bit too bold
I didn't win the New Yorker caption contest.... Perhaps the time for bold predictions is over, although I'll likely issue another bold prediction about something entirely unrelated this week.
A bold prediction
I am going to win this week's New Yorker caption contest. Nobody can beat this entry... and when I do win I am going to put this right on my CV....
Great Britain is a culinary nightmare
I erroneously received an online order from Dominos Pizza in the UK. Just out of curiosity I checked to see what the person ordered. I was horrified to learn that the British have a pizza stuffed with hot dogs and mustard.
Baked beans and stewed tomatoes for breakfast wasn't sickening enough?
Google Analytics & Big Brother
The Environmental Protection Agency must have heard about our six terabytes of toxic data spilled in North Philadelphia.
Watching you
Technology is often so fickle, but our eyetracker seems to be working like a charm today.
Upward mobility
Ever feel like you're just not getting anywhere in life?
Little darlings
Last week I visited the old stomping ground at the University of Florida. I took a little hike along the La Chua Trail, and the water level was very high. These lovers were sunning themselves on either side of the walking trail, forming a gauntlet. This trail wasn't in a zoo. These little darlings were right in front of me.
The Olympics...
So boring.... such a waste of effort
A tale of two James Reillys

Lesson learned
In an attempt to lose one of my Christmas chins, I took to a treadmill at Temple today. I learned an important lesson about treadmills and athletic attire.
The lesson is this.... NEVER run on a treadmill wearing Chuck Taylors.
The operation was a success
Three stitches removed with my left (non-dominant) hand. One of the black ones is here. Piece of cake.... Who needs medical school?
Florida to Pennsylvania: A wise move?
Et tu, Brute?
Shawshank & thoughts on moving
The moving PODS are essentially packed, and my job at the University of Florida is rapidly winding down. We're off to Philadelphia next week where I will be heading up a lab at Temple University. It's a bittersweet experience. Some things I will miss very much. I love Gainesville and my PhD students. Some things I won't miss at all (e.g., the corrupt warden and sadistic prison guard). Not to embrace hyerbole, but I really have crawled through a 500 yard sewer pipe over the last year. Now I'm off to Mexico to await the arrival of Morgan Freeman, portrayed awkwardly by Dr. Jonathan Peelle.
Carp of death
Now that I have abandoned Facebook, I have freed up time for more important endeavors. Today I was messing with MRIcronGL in an attempt to create some nice 3d renderings for our lesion mapping study. I discovered an MR scan of a carp and was able to apply the GE_Color scheme, rotate the image, and cut out a slice of the body. This looks pretty awesome.
Schindler's Lift
Here's an interesting play on words from our hotel elevator in Amsterdam.

So many ideas....
Combining tDCSwith eyetracking -- looking at bilateral cathodal stimulation of the angular gyri during a semantic categorization task (e.f., Pyramids & Palms). It's coming....
Ketchup and mustard in the same bottle... that's coming, too.
Kennedy Space Center
Just back from visiting the Kennedy Space Center with my son, August. It was really an amazing place. I'm simultaneously reading Turing's Cathedral, which nicely complements the zeitgeist of the Werner Von Braun rocket era. August pitched a fit within five minutes of our arrival, and we had to leave. Nevertheless, my brief exposure to the scope of the Mercury and Gemini rockets was really inspirational. For those considering a visit, I encourage you to avoid staying in Cape Canaveral or Cocoa Beach. Unless you want to buy a gun, patronize a strip bar, or stop in for a massage you could probably safely avoid this part of Florida.
